What is LEED?
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized certification system that measures how well a building or community performs across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions. Learn more about LEED from the USGBC at www.usgbc.org/leed.
LEED Professional Accreditation
LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the integrated design and LEED certification process. LEED Accredited Professionals have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources, and processes. Visit www.gbci.org to learn more about the LEED Professional Accreditation exam process.
LEED Training Workshops
The LEED program also includes a full suite of training workshops (www.usgbc.org/education) to develop and encourage green building expertise across the entire building industry.
HRGBC educates the public and provides information on the LEED certification and professional accreditation programs. We do not establish or enforce standards or professional accreditations. Additional information on the certification and accreditation processes can be obtained from USGBC through the links on this page.
